Thai Fruits You Should Try!

Thailand is considered a heaven for fruitarians. Anywhere you travel in this country, you will be met with a wide variety of fruit stands at ridiculously low prices! The taste of Thai fruits has impressed visitors from many part of the world. Moreover, there are tons of fruits that you might never seen before. Fruits of Thailand are exported around the world which carry a high price tag. In addition, The export of Thai fruits has been increasing steadily. Therefore, when you find yourself in Thailand, do not forget to try Thai fruits! Here is a recommendation list of Thai fruits you should try when you visiting Thailand.

Mango or Ma-Muang

Mango has always been everyone favorite. It is one of the most well-known fruit in Thailand. There are many different kinds of mango available in this lovely country. The orange mango is very juicy and sweet while green mango is very sour and can be eaten in many ways; put it in a spicy said or eat it with a spicy and sweet dip. Moreover, mango is well-known for Thai dessert; Mango with sticky rice. This is when mango is eaten ripe.  It’s sweetness complimented by a slightly salty coconut cream along with sticky rice.
Jackfruit or Khanoon

Jackfruit is the largest fruit you will find in Thailand and can weigh around 20-30 Kilos. However, it is not likely you will be cutting open jackfruit yourself. so buy a readymade pack at fruit stalls or supermarkets. The taste of jackfruit is similar to pineapple but less juicy and much more chewy. Jackfruit is normally eaten raw but can also be dried and made into chips as well. Yum!

Custard Apple or Noi Na

Custard apple is one of the strangest of Thailand’s fruits. Custard apple is a tennis ball sized with a thick rind composed of knobby segments. The taste of this fruit is very soft and sweet but very seedy. To eat, just cut it in half and eat it with a spoon but don’t forget to remove the seeds. Furthermore, custard apple is rich in anti-oxidants and calcium.

Mangosteen or Mang Kut

Mangosteen is considered to be the queen of fruits. This fruit is a bizarre looking fruit that contains in its round and thick dark purple skin. It is sweet and a bit sour. Mangosteen is a very refreshing fruit which has a cooling effect on the body. Moreover, mangosteens also help you to get rid of bad breath and unwanted taste in your mouth.

Rose Apple (Chompoo)

It is a summer fruit with shape much like a pear. It has a shiny pink skin and smell a bit like a rose water. Rose Apples are usually eaten fresh. It has a crispy, crunchy texture and are hollow inside which is very refreshing on a hot day.

Tamarind

Tamarind can be found all over Thailand. It has a pod-like shape and is often curved. When you crack the shell, you’ll see sticky brown pulp covering black seeds. Tamarind is a real combination of sweet and sour. Most often, tamarind can be turned into drinks or dried into candies.
